Party programs evaluation

On the October 2 the Latvian citizens will go to vote the 10th Saiema or speaking with words of the Constitution - hundred representatives of the people. Like before the previous elections, Economists Association 2010 will evaluate publicly available party programs and their impact on the Latvian long-term development.

To discuss the program evaluation methodology and to define the social, economic and political issues, answers for which should be found in the programs, on February 4 the first meeting brought together the project team - members of the Association Martins Bondars, Olga Ertuganova, Juris Cebulis and an outside expert - political scientist Filips Rajevskis.

The aim of programs evaluation is to draw the attention of politicians and voters to sustainable community development issues such as community development (health and life expectancy, education, science and research, employment), government budget and finance (fiscal policy, the introduction of euro, the European Union fund use policy) , the rule of state-building (strengthening of the law of power, the judicial system development, good governance) and other national issues.

To make a more objective evaluation process, parties will be given the opportunity to give their views on topical issues, which they will deal with in the coming years. The preparing of questions will involve not only the experts, but also the society.

A party programs evaluation methodology will be confirmed on 21 May at the "Economists Association 2010” spring conference.
